Hey, Tweets,

For the past couple of days, I've had two female Northern Flickers
fencing with their beaks, here and there in the yard. Once, on the
cross-piece of a power pole. Once, hanging side by side on a large round
suet-cage. This morning, they're sitting on the shepherd's pole from
which the suet-cage hangs. Unfortunately for one, one crook is higher
than the other, so the uppermost bird seems to have the upper hand ...
er.r.r... beak.

They'll sit still for 15-30 seconds, then fence for 1-2 seconds, no more.

Yesterday, there were two other birds hanging around with them. Couldn't
see the others well enough to know what gender.

Funny both to see and hear.

'Tis the season!
