Many thanks to the wonderful crew of 14 happy birders who allowed me to show them my backyard today.
We toured the north county shorelines, taking in the Blaine waterfront, Semiahmoo Spit, and Birch Bay State Park, with a final fresh water bonus stop at Lake Terrell.

We saw good numbers of good birds, including three species of loons, scoters, and mergansers; numerous divers and dabblers including Long-tailed Ducks, grebes, Ruddy Ducks, wigeons, and pintails; shorebirds including Black Turnstones, Sanderlings, and Black Oystercatchers.

Don't have a final tally on the number of species, yet, but we braved the often gusty winds and enjoyed every windbreak we could find. As trip leader, I could not have asked for a better group. I'll repeat this trip on April 2 so please check the WOS Field Trips page for details.

Cheers,
Joe Meche
