In response to the two responses to my sighting last Wednesday of a
dark-colored, larger-than-usual coyote with a white-tipped tail: The photos
submitted of several dark (?sable?) colored coyotes looks exactly like what
I saw. It was definitely not a fox. I would love for it to have been a
wolf, but it lacked the large head and shoulders of a wolf. The face and
head were narrow and it had the long, slender muzzle of a coyote. Pretty
big, though in terms of shoulder height and length.
