Today during?a work-related field trip to Richmond Beach as our group was walking, I?had 5-10 minutes to?clearly observe?a male?Anna's Hummingbird. At first he was?perched on top of a drift wood snag.?After a few moments?after seeing me watch him he?displayed bright iridescent fuchsia head plumage?then showed off?his gorget. I?called?to him (making chip, chip sounds).?He answered back, spread his tail feathers then did some highly entertaining and acrobatic "J" maneuvers. He flew right up to?me within 2 feet?of my face. He finally?flew off to feed in a nearby Hibiscus bush?at?19561-27th Ave NW at Richmond Beach Drive NW (Apple Tree Lane - beachfront). What a nice 5-10 minutes of birding.
