Interesting blog posting and pictures from Midway in case you haven't seen
this yet.

Short-tailed Albatross chick survived but perhaps compromised. One photo
shows it standing alone in an area where everything else was swept away.
Thousands of Laysan's, Black-footed's, and Bonin's apparently lost, swept
away, or buried. Don't know about Laysan Island other than everyone's fine
there, but the camp was inundated with the surge and fresh water
compromised. Haven't seen any reports from Kure.

Tsunami aside, It's been a rough and wild winter out on Midway. Big winds
and flooding rains in early February brought down trees and washed out
albatross nests sending countless eggs floating off into the woods (pictures).

If you know of any other news or links to news out on the far western
chain, please pass them along. Thanks
