Nice pictures. I was surprised to see the larger bulls still carrying their
antlers. Seems late. I suspect they'll be dropping them very soon. The
eagles all appear to be Bald Eagles.

Subject: [Tweeters] Golden and Bald eagle show at Oak Creek with the Elk

Stopped by Oak Creek wildlife Area elk feeding station the last two days
(14th &15th) on my way to Yakima. Yesterday the Wildlife Department had
moved three elk carcasses from the main herd area to the back under the rock
bluffs. At least four golden eagles had staked out their claim to the
bounty, with three bald eagles sitting in the trees waiting for their
chance. Even farther back, obviously knowing it was lower in the pecking
order, was a red tailed hawk patiently waiting. To really see the action
you need a good set of binos and to photograph it you need a long lens in
the 400mm range with extender. The most interesting happening was when a
golden eagle landed on a rock near a cow elk and they appeared to be in a
faceoff situation. It's well worth the trip over right now. Pictures from
my visit can be seen at http://www.picturetrail.com/gid23734076
