Think Dennis makes many good points here. On capitalization of common names, apart
from all the other good reasons, it is simply far more practical from a linguistic perspective--
after all, how does the reader determine whether a blue jay is a Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata)
or just a blue-plumaged jay, of which there are several other choices? Apologize if this point
already well stated by others, seems like a "no-brainer" as they say.
