Spent the morning at a site along south side of the river about 3 miles north of Concrete that used to be part of the old Ovenell Ranch. My staff have been working up there all week and reported a flock of 7 mountain bluebirds seen daily. Apparently this is a common waypoint on their migration north and up in elevation, as relatively large numbers have been reported there each spring since 2008. No luck for me as far as bluebirds, but I did see a northern shrike, redtail hawk and heard many singing juncos and winter wrens.
