The Black-crowned Night-Herons were in their roost tree at the St.Joseph retirement facility in Stanwood this morning. The best view is on the west side, intersection of 273rd Pl NW and 100th Ave NW. There are two conifers, and the herons were in the northernmost (to your left as you look east) of the large trees. There were three visible, with two slightly higher in the tree and one somewhat below. By moving around some you could actually get a look at the complete head of one of the birds.

Very nice to see these birds after an absence of the birds on Fir Island for so long.
