Grey Jay, Steller's Jay, Siberian Jay, Plush-crested Jay

Only thing worse than spelling one of these without "proper"
capitalization is to spell it wrong, i.e. Stellar's Jay...

Cady Wilson is dead-on, without caps you are just describing a generic
bird. A grey jay could be a Western Scrub-Jay or a Grey Jay.

Anyway, Ryan Merrill, Mark Crawford and I had a great time last couple
of days of birding the Columbia Basin. Saw many cool birds all
available for public viewing on eBird. (Than you Ryan). One of the
highlights included a flock of 55 Lesser Goldfinches mixed with about
120 American Goldfinches at Lyon's Ferry. We also saw many Long-eared
Owls, Great Horned Owls, and a Barn Owl with babies in the nest.
