Thank you everyone for your comments, and suggestions regarding the capitalization of bird names. I have sent these on to the editor in a condensed version. It will be up to him now on whether he "allows" the use of capitals for all common bird names. If he chooses not to I am currently working on a story about purple finches, yellow warblers, gray, brown, green and blue jays, wandering tattlers, brown pelicans, common loons, ancient murrelets......................................
