On my way home from the Shorebird festival on Saturday, I swung by the Hoquiam SWP and found 2 Red-necked Phalarope in the pond.? Charlie Wright had mentioned to me earlier in the day that he had seen some there that morning.? I suspect that is your culprit.

A huge thanks to those who work so hard to put this festival on for us.
This weather this year made it even more special. I was fortunate enough
to be with the group at Point Grenville to see the puffins and, as Tim
said, many other seabirds. The wandering tattler we saw gave all of us
fits blending in so well with the rock where it enjoyed several minutes
of our time.

Today, we got some great views of singing marsh wrens. One was almost
posing on an old piling about 15 feet from the boardwalk.

And now a question: We stopped on the way out of town at the sewage
treatment plant where I am sure we saw one phalarope, but it did not
look like anything in the books. The black and white on the neck and
head looked more like a stilt or western grebe than anything I can find
in any picture of a phalarope. The back was gray with some white. Did
anyone else see it or have an idea what we might have been looking at?
