Hello Nancy,

The white-crowned had a yellow bill. Left leg bands: upper silver metal, lower yellow. Right leg: I could not see foot in grass, but saw one band-bright pink. I do have it on video-but file is too large to send by e-mail.
I would be interested to hear where it was banded. Others on Tweeters may also find it interesting.

I hope that helps.

I am currently color banding White-crowned Sparrows ( WCSP ) in the Tri-Cities. Could you tell me the color combination you saw? I know that Puget Sound Bird Observatory is color banding but not WCSP . I do believe there is someone in western WA with permission to color band.

I would like to know more about White- crowned sparrow types expected as residents and migrants in Western WA.

I have done the reading, but would like to hear from others regarding observations. I did see one with several leg bands recently. I did not know they were being studied in the area.

Thanks,
