Greetings. I have a quick question that I hoped there might be some anecdotal evidence for. I am starting a project looking at cairns, those wonderful piles of stone that mark trails and high spots. I was wondering if people had seen birds using these piles as perch sites. Recently I was on top of Umtanum Ridge and saw a cairn that had clearly been used by some body. The top most rock was covered in white wash and had what looked like owl pellets, bones and fur, dotting the surface of the cairn.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
David Williams
