Subject: [Tweeters] massive bird movement on outer coast on Sunday

My wife and I have been on the Oregon Coast at Lincoln City a few days.
I've been looking for migrating birds, as reported by Dennis P., but have
nothing to report. During three days I have only seen 9 Brown Pelicans
which were flying to the north a few hundred yards off shore. I visited the
Yaquina Head lighthouse (just north of Newport) both yesterday and today.
Usually there are many thousand Common Murres, a few thousand cormorants,
and many pinnipeds to be seen at this location. Not one murre was seen
though a post on the reader board in the visitor center indicated a few had
been seen earlier in the day. I saw only an estimated one hundred Pelagic
and one Double-crested Cormorants. Only one pinniped was observed but, due
to its position and distance, could not be identified. I saw no birds on
nests.

What's going on? Am I a victim of poor timing? Has La Nina effected the
food supply that much? I only visited one brewery (the Rogue in Newport)
where I had just one beer. Honestly.
