I'm excited to read about all the migrants moving into the various areas. I've seen Vaux swifts and Wilson's warblers in the neighborhood the last couple days. But in recognition of the birds that stay and please us year round, I'd noticed as I walked through the yard while weeding etc a junco would suddenly fly out of somewhere nearby. After watching more closely, I saw it was coming from under my very stunted rhubarb plants. I checked very carefully and discovered ther nest with 5 or more hatchlings- probably just hatched today from their looks. Needless to say, I'll be having no rhubarb for a while and walking a wide path while they get some growth time in peace! Spring rewards!
