i saw similar behavior yesterday at juanita bay park involving a male
red-winged blackbird and a very large crow. the crow was nosing around in
the willow shrubs and the blackbird would approach it closely and utter a
short call that seemed to serve the dual purpose of alerting the crow of a
potential meal and the rest of the family to keep their heads down. the
blackbird lured the crow off to the other side of the boardwalk several
times. went on for a quarter hour or more, with the crow leaving briefly
and then returning to the same general area in a minute or so and the same
routine transpiring.

regards,
