Dear Tweeters,

After enjoying a Skagit Audubon field trip to Kiket Island, I decided to keep on birding. There were so many interesting birds that I decided to try for a century day, albeit a leisurely one. I think I ended up with 117 species for the day, despite near constant rain.

Here are some highlights.

RED-THROATED LOON, 1 off Kiket Island, only my second ever in May in the county.

Snow Geese, about 50 still on Fir Island.

Greater White-fronted Geese, about fiftey with the Snow Geese.

Cinnamon Teal, one on Fir Island.

Blue-winged Teal, one at the Game Range, two on Minkler Flats.

Osprey, one on a natural nest site atop a towering conifer near Anacortes ferry landing.

GOLDEN EAGLE, one adult at Cockreham Island.

SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, one at March Point.

WHIMBREL, 106 on Dahlstedt Road.

Spotted Sandpiper, one at the Game Range.

Bonaparte's Gull, fifteen at March Point, one on Dahlstedt Rd.

Marbled Murrelet, ten or so off Green Point, finally--my first of the year after quite a few tries.

WESTERN KINGBIRD, one on Cockreham Island.

MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD, one very drab female west of Hamilton.

NASHVILLE WARBLER, one at the Game Range, my first ever at that site.

YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD, one on Cockreham Island.
