It seems my first e-mail went into cyberspace never to surface so here is a
summary.? With three field-trip walks at Nisqually today there was a?plethora of
great birds showing up.?Over 70 species.? Highlights were 1000+ VAUX'S SWIFTS,
everywhere over open water and marsh. At least three YELLOW HEADED BLACKBIRDS in
the pond south of the new dike, between the twin barns and the new boardwalk.?
Check the end near the boardwalk, in the reeds.? Also in this pond is a?WILSON'S
PHALAROPE.?A fallout of hundreds of warblers were prowling nearly every tree,
99% of which are YELLOW RUMPS?divided 2-1 among AUDUBON'S?& MYRTLE'S.??Also
present were WILSON'S, YELLOW, ORANGE-CROWNED, & COMMON YELLOWTHROAT,?joined by
several WARBLING VIREOS.? The GREAT-HORNED OWLS are still easily seen middway
down the old boardwalk along the Nisqually side.? Look on both sides at
the?bench.
