Hi Tweets,

There were 30+ Least and 2 Western Sandpipers in the Edmonds Marsh
this morning. Four Sanderlings in alternate plumage were at the foot
of the public pier on the south end of Olympic Beach. Back at the
marsh, a nesting pair of Canada Geese had their three bright yellow
goslings out on display. It was quite charming to watch them waddle
quickly across the mud, maintaining their balance with outstretched
stubby wings. Wilson's warblers were along the red path on the north
side of the marsh as was a Lincoln's Sparrow. I just missed a mixed
feeding flock pass through the Willow Creek Hatchery grounds. It was
quiet when I arrived. The male Red-breasted Sapsucker had it head
sticking out of the new nest cavity in the snag across from the
hatchery. Not much of interest to report from the Point Edwards public
path other than one Caspian Tern flying overhead and to the north and
a Savannah Sparrow. Ted Peterson had a four-thrush morning at Yost
Park: Hermit, Swainson's (heard), Varied, and Robin. He said the
Barred Owls were calling quite loudly around 10 a.m.

Good birding,

Carol Riddell
