Nineteen of us from Tacoma spent the weekend from wenzel slough to
Tokeland. Shorebirds were in greater supply than previous years. Good
numbers upland, Brady loop; the golf course at O.S. and Bill's spit. The later
hosting perhaps 20,000 birds, with our only Red Knot. We managed 23 shore-
birds for the weekend. Semi-Palmated Plovers and Ruddy Turnstones were
in good number. Amazingly at the jetty we had 8 rockpipers, of 5 species,
3 tattlers, 2 ruddies, 1 surfbird, 1 black turnstone, and 1 rock sandpiper. It
was great to see them in molt to alternate, especially the rock sandpiper.

Yellow-headed Blackbird, 1 Vance creek park
Red-shouldered hawk, 1, 1st cycle, near keys & wenzel slough rds.
Parasitic Jaeger, 1 O.S. jetty
Rock Sandpiper, 1 O.S. jetty
Red Knot, 1 Bill's spit
Red-necked Phalarope, 6 3 locations
Snowy Plover, 5, nesting area, grayland
