Subject: [Tweeters] Assistance...Pileated WP and Barred Owl

I am not a big time photographer with big lenses
etc (someday maybe) but I am trying to slowly
gather decent photographs of birds I see as I am
out and about. I have something over 200 pix of
WA species with some very notable exceptions
(nemesis birds). On Sunday I almost removed one
nemesis from the list. In the Seattle Arboretum I
heard a calling Pileated WP and just as I spotted
it on a decent perch with good sun light to my
back and thus on the bird, but before I could get
the camera focused on it, it flew off towards the
sun. I located it again but this time in addition
to being fairly distant, the sun was behind the
bird (of course that has NEVER happened to any of
you) so I ended up with a very recognizable
silhouette photo only. For some reason this bird
continues to elude me so I am reaching out to the
Tweeter's community for suggestions on where odds
might be best to capture (digitally only) this
spectacular woodpecker.

And as long as I am "begging", I know there have
been a number of postings about Barred Owls in
Lincoln Park and perhaps in some other Seattle
parks, but I have not been able to find the posts
in the Archives. Any guidance to former posts or
just helpful info about locating this Owl would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks.
