Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Wednesday May 11. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On May 6 a male HOODED ORIOLE began feeding at a Klamath Falls hummingbird
feeder. On May 10 another HOODED ORIOLE visited a feeder at a different part
of Klamath Falls. On May 6 a PARAKEET AUKLET was seen off Boiler Bay. It or
another was there May 8.

Heavy migrations during the week brought flocks of WESTERN TANAGERS and some
early SWAINSON?S THRUSHES. Many WHIMBRELS were reported along the coast
with some inland reports.

An ACORN WOODPECKER visited a feeder in Powers during the week. On May 10 a
WESTERN SCRUB-JAY was in Newport. A male CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD was seen May
10 at Pittock Mansion in Portland. On May 9 a flock of eight WHIMBRELS were
at Baskett Slough NWR. A LONG-BILLED CURLEW and a WHIMBREL were near Tangent
May 6. Six WHIMBRELS were south of Corvallis May 9. A LONG-BILLED CURLEW was
at Finley NWR May 6. A PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER was seen May 6 at Fern Ridge
Reservoir.

On May 8 a GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW was well east of its usual range at Unity,
south of Baker City.
