As a coincidence, I happened to see a Dipper with a 2-inch
crayfish on the American River near Chinook Pass last
Saturday. No video or picture but the first time I had seen
one with large prey.

BTW Most areas still have several feet of snow cover above
Cliffdell, WA. A mushroom hunter who accompanied me
estimated that phenologically things are about 2 weeks late.
