Subject: [Tweeters] Raptor Rapture at the Fill

After Connie's glowing report of the Fill
yesterday I decided to stop off on the way to
work. Can't say the alders were teeming with
warblers but some were there for me - mostly
Wilson's, a single OC, a couple of YR, a Common
Yellowthroat and a possible Black Throated Gray.
But as I was working my way through the brush I
heard a Red Tail call above and caught a glimpse
of it through the foliage. As it banked a smaller
bird was pursuing it. At first I thought it was a
crow (about the right size) but it was paler
underneath. The birds disappeared but seemed to
be circling, so I broke into the open and was
treated to something I have never seen at the fill
before - four raptors in the same field of vision,
circling together: Red Tailed Hawk, Two Cooper
Hawks and an Immature Eagle. They circled over an
expansive area at the Fill for a good two minutes
before dispersing and disappearing. I saw the Red
Tail off and on over the next 30 minutes but not
the others. Very cool.
