I on the dock at the Port of Longview, last Wednesday, when I heard what
sounded like House Wren songs coming from a conveyer tube used to load grain
on ships. A bird, one that I now think may have been a different bird from
the one that was singing, flew from the area and landed on some pallets. As
I approached, it flew to a fork lift. I took a couple of pictures. When I
uploaded them to my computer, I could see some plumage details that make me
think American Pipit. But, it didn't behave like pipits I've seen. In other
words, I don't recall seeing pipits flying from perch to perch. They usually
land on the ground. I suspect someone will point out that it's a completely
different bird that I should have recognized. Go here to see a picture.
