Hi Tweets,

This weekend I had three what I assume were warbling vireos in my yard in Wallingford. At least one was definitely singing the right song. However, at least one also had a distictly darker, almost black, crown, or at least a wide black border above the white supercilium. I thought possibly a red-eyed vireo, but the lores were light, and the eye seemed dark in a fairly close look, but the lighting wasn't fantastic. Also the bill seemed less substantial than a red-eyed, and I didn't hear a red-eyed song (although with three birds there could've been more than one species). And no yellow, although again, the light was rather flat. Anyone seen a warbling vireo with darker markings on the head? What else could it have been?

Thanks!

Katie
