Hi, again, fellow birders. Today a friend and I visited the vernal pond
northwest of Mansfield at the intersection of Rd. C and Rd. 18, and in
less than 2 hrs. saw 26 species in and around the ponds. New arrivals
included 5 Semi-palmated Plover, 2 Pectoral Sandpipers and one C.
Yellowthroat.

Other birds seen inc. many Least Sandpipers, Killdeer, Am. Pipits,
Savannah Sparrows, Greater Yellowlegs, both W. and Red-necked Phalaropes
and approx. 25 Long-billed Dowitchers. Many of these were on the side of,
or in the middle of the gravel road. They came very close to the parked
car and didn't mind us at all. Maybe they thought they were on a beach!

The Am. Golden Plover was at one of the ponds, and we also had one each
Cinnamon Teal and Blue-winged Teal. I LOVE birding in the spring!
