Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday May 19. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On May 14 a BLUE-HEADED VIREO was photographed at Malheur NWR Headquarters.
Also there that day was a BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER. On May 15 an ORCHARD
ORIOLE was at Fields. A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was at Summer Lake over the
week-end. On May 15 a WHITE-WINGED DOVE was in Medford. A cruise trip off
Oregon May 17 reported seven PARAKEET AUKLETS, four MURPHY?S PETRELS, and a
LAYSAN ALBATROSS.
WESTERN TANAGERS staged an impressive movement through the Willamette Valley
during the week. Several LEWIS?S WOODPECKERS and SWAINSON?S THRUSHES were
also reported. RED KNOTS were reported along the coast with seven reported
from Baskett Slough NWR May 15.
On May 15 a BLACK-THROATED SPARROW was photographed near Langlois. A BLACK
SWIFT was seen May 10 at Newport. Six were seen May 15 over the Nehalem
Sewage Ponds. A possible YELLOW-BILLED LOON was on Tillamook Bay May 14. A
large SOOTY SHEARWATER flock was off Clatsop Beach May 11. A CALLIOPE
HUMMINGBIRD was seen May 14 at Seaside.
On May 12 a WHITE-THROATED SWIFT was at the Portland Airport. The same day
an ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was in Portland?s Forest Park. Two were at the
Camassia Preserve in West Linn May 12-13. On May 15 a BLUE-WINGED TEAL and
two BLACK-NECKED STILTS were at the Tualatin NWR. A CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD was
in Tualatin May 18. On May 17 a flock of 18 BALD EAGLES was in Ankeny NWR. A
late ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was north of Corvallis May 15. An AVOCET was seen
during the week along Diamond Hill Road near Brownsville. A WHITE-TAILED
KITE and an ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER were seen nearby. A MOCKINGBIRD was
south of Monmouth May 15. On May 18 a BLACK-THROATED SPARROW was near
Roseburg.
A BREWER?S SPARROW was in Hood River May 15. On May 11 a WHITE-TAILED KITE
was in Sisters. That day a RED-EYED VIREO was in Shevlin Park near Bend.
Five WHITE-THROATED SWIFTS were seen May 12 at Roaring Springs Ranch south
of Frenchglen.
