Hello,

At 3pm today, there was a beautiful American Golden Plover on Oakshot Rd,
.6 west of the Colville STP (north side of the road), a code 5 bird. Hope
it hangs around. There were also a pair of alternate plumaged Dunlin
further out beyond the plover and both Phalaropes in nearby ponds.

On to other stuff. With so many holes in my Ferry County list and at the
encouragement of the WOS trip last week, I decided to try to fill in some
of those holes. I wasn't quite as successful as the WOSers, but still
pleased with my findings.

Swawilla Basin Rd: Chukar, Calliope Hummingbird, Gray Flycatchers (many),
Dusky Flycatcher, Rock Wren, Cassin's Vireo, Brewer's, Grasshopper, Lark
(many), and Vesper Sparrow, Bullock's Oriole, Western Tanager, Black headed
Grosbeak, Lazuli Bunting (everywhere).

Corner of Manilla Creek Rd and hwy 21: Yellow Breasted Chat

Silver Creek Rd: Expected arriving warblers, vireos, flycatchers singing
everywhere.

Friedlander Meadows (Hellgate Rd). WHITE HEADED WOODPECKER (a pair .4 mi
south of intersection with Silver Creek Rd - where there are broken down
outhouses on the east side of the road), Red naped Sapsuckers, Veery.

Early this morning on the way out....

Reardan Audubon Lake; Red necked and Wilson's Phalaropes, Am Avocets,
nearly 100 Eared Grebes (the most I have ever seen here)

Old Kuck's Rd; Long billed Dowitcher, both Phalaropes, Grass getting high,
water drying up. Sage Thrasher

One more note: if you are traveling from Ferry County to Stevens County,
know that the Gifford Ferry is presently closed.

Blessings
