Tweets,
The heavy rains of last weekend sent a flash flood down Umptanum Creek Cyn. Followed by hot weather and resultant snow melt, both Umptanum Creek and the Yakima River are running high and fast. The first crossing on the Umptanum Creek trail has been washed out so be prepared to wade through knee deep water if you're determined to pursue this hike (bring Tevas). Two people we talked to waded the stream and hiked an additional mile, but after their 5th rattlesnake they decided to turn around. Rumor has it that the second creek crossing was also washed out. Birding was relatively slow. Give it another week for Spring to arrive.
