Hi Dave,
Your Juanita flycatcher is too ashy gray/brown for any of our
Empidonax species, except perhaps Willow. It also basically lacks an
eye ring. The long primary projection and mostly dark bill, as well as
the subtle gray "vest" rule out Willow, so Empids are out. The leaves
us with either Olive-sided or Western Wood-Pewee. This bird's vest is
not pronounced enough and the dimensions aren't large enough for an
Olive-sided. I would say this is a wood-pewee.
