Hi Tweets:
Bruce Love just called and said there is a WESTERN KINGBIRD at Boeing Ponds. They saw it in the willow bushes that are next to the road along the edge of the pond as 59th Place curves around the pond. They saw it with its white tail edges from the car at about 10:00am, today, May 25. They also saw the W. Kingbird in that area last Sun, May 22.
On another note, I finally heard a Swainson's Thrush in Des Moines Creek Park, my first of the year (FOY), yesterday, May 24. It was singing. There were a couple of singing Yellow Warblers and a silent Warbling Vireo on my walk yesterday morning in Des Moines suburban habitat here. Still lots of Purple Finches singing in my neighborhood, but the House Finches are starting to thin out. There are some Pine Siskins in the area too, along w/ a moderate number of Goldfinches.
Yours, Carol Schulz
