Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday May 26. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

A possible ORCHARD ORIOLE was seen May 21 in the Fairmont Hill section of
Salem. On May 20 a PLUMBEOUS VIREO and a LEAST FLYCATCHER were at Fields. A
COMMON GRACKLE was south of Burns Junction May 20. Another was at Fields
then next day. A GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was at Cape Blanco May 18.

An offshore cruise off Oregon May 20 found five MURPHY?S PETRELS, an ASHY
STORM-PETREL, two PARAKEET AUKLETS, five SKUAS, and a FLESH-FOOTED
SHEARWATER.

The heavy movement of WESTERN TANAGERS through the Willamette Valley
continues with peak numbers now in the Portland area. BLACK SWIFTS moved
along the coast May 20-25. On May 24 a flock of up to 250 were at Flores
Lake. One was in southwest Portland May 23.

On May 19 a ROCK WREN was near Langlois. A late LAPLAND LONGSPUR was at New
River May 21. A LONG-EARED OWL was at Cape Perpetua during the week.

On May 21 a RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER was in Gresham. A LONG-BILLED CURLEW was at
Fern Ridge Reservoir May 21. A WHITE-FACED IBIS was there the next day. An
ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was on Skinners Butte in Eugene May 24. On May 20 a
COSTA?S HUMMINGBIRD was at Fort Rock. A MOCKINGBIRD was along the road on
the east side of Steens Mountain May 23.
