Hi Tweeters,

Yesterday (5/28/11) after a morning of seeing the special birds, especially
BLACK TERNS, at Nisqually NWR I decided to explore the eastern portion of
Thuston County. This area was new to me and I hoped to fill some holes in my
county list as well. From where Bald Hill Road SE is gated I chose to take a
bit of a walk up the hill and on the way back down heard what I thought were
3 singing HERMIT WARBLERS. Persistent pishing near the closest brought what
I took to be a pure Hermit Warbler into view as the face and crown were all
yellow and the underparts below the black bib were white. I'm not sure if
anyone is tracking the Townsend/Hermit hybrid zone or where this locale
would fit in but thought I'd make this post just in case. I'm also not sure
if these are on territory or migrants.
