Greetings Tweets,
?
Just back from 11 days in some pretty hot weather in west Texas. John English and I flew in to Austin on the 19th and worked our way across the hill counrty, then southwest to Big Bend Nat'l Park.? 107 degree temps followed us for most of the latter half of the trip, making the climb to see the Colima Warbler all the more sweet when we met with success about 3 miles in.? Our other two target birds, The Golden-cheeked Warbler and the Black-capped Vireo were no easier to find, but a lot less strenuous!? John ended the trip with 12 new life birds and I picked up 9.? We saw 117 species and watched an enterprizing Mexican citizen ford the Rio Grande to check his craft wares displayed on an overlook above the "river".?
A fun and rewarding trip, but it's good to be back in the cool.?
?
Cheers, Rolan
