I have been following tweeters for awhile, but this is my first post, so here goes...

Monday three of us went to Skagit and Samish Flats. At Wylie Slough we did see the Northern Waterthrush after much searching. We had wonderful views and it also called several times. Other birds of note were a Peregrine and a Merlin. At Hayton Reserve the Snow Geese are back. There were thousands, but no luck finding the Blue morph. We also saw one Meadowlark and a Northern Shrike. North Fork was quiet, but we had a small flock of Swans fly over.
Driving up Bayview-Edison Rd, it was raptor central. Numerous Red-tailed Hawks, Sharp-shinned, Cooper's, Harriers, a Peregrine and at least one Rough-legged Hawk probably two. There were also several hundred Dunlin in the water off the left side. The barn past the West-90 had a roosting Barn Owl inside.

Tuesday was a Pilchuck Audubon outing. We birded around Snohomish and tried to stay warm most of the morning. After the fog burned off the afternoon improved. At Bob Heirman Park, the pond on the left was full, mostly American Wigeons and Mallards. We also had Green-wing Teal, Pied-billed Grebe, one Western Grebe, Hooded Merganser, Coot and about 20 Trumpeter Swans. The biggest surprise was watching a Sandhill Crane fly in and land with the swans.
