Tweets, Friday mid-morning I re-found the MacGillivray's Warbler as posted
yesterday by Bob Sundstrom. I heard suspicious call notes briefly two or
three times (including a Townsend's in a large mixed flock) but the noise of
the nearby creek prevented definitive ID. I almost gave up three times, but
after 15 or 20 minutes zeroed in on the bird. Location: Near the mill pond
on Heernet conservation property (birder-friendly) accessed just off SR507
on the eastern outskirts of Tenino, south a short distance on Churchill
(Mull) Rd. Park at the bike trail or the next pulloff to Heernet property,
walk the logging road 1/4 mile W to the pond. The bird has been hanging out
in the brambles to the right just off the road on either side of the creek,
starting about where the incline begins. This is my ninth warbler locally in
the last 32 days. Great fun!
Oh, and Thursday I chased the kingbird at Nisqually, to no avail, but I did
see one Barn Swallow, two N Shrikes together (way south of the green dike
gate), and one excellent birder visiting from Leeds -- I hope someone had
more time to spend with him than I.
