Susan and I decided to check out some of the good birds being seen locally so headed for Woodland and then back to Ridgefield today, as did many other birders. When we arrived at Caples Road in Woodland, the RUSTY BLACKBIRD was already staked out for us, a county bird for me and a lifer for Susan. We then headed back south to the Ridgefield NWR and got into the parade of vehicles doing the Auto Tour Route. We joined the many vehicles parked along the road at Stop #11 and waited for over an hour before the VERMILION FLYCATCHER made an appearance, only a Clark County year bird for the both of us. We were amused by the non-birders who seemed upset that people were stopping to look at birds. Wilson Cady
