The only time I ever had security say anything about?optics?was when my carry-on was packed in such a way?that things overlapped in the x-ray view and they thought it looked like I might have something hidden inside the scope.? Since then, I've been careful to pack things more orderly.? If I'm carrying several books I sometimes remove?the largest one?from my bag and put it through?in the plastic tub.? I think?packing books can obscures the?x-rays if they are stacked on top of one another.??Since I've learned to be a more concientious packer they hardly ever hand-search my carry-on anymore.
