Here is a longish turkey vulture report for
October 2011 which includes a late one from
September. Reports are from Oregon and
Washington. These are some of the highest numbers
I?ve seen for October. My thanks to George
Neavoll for forwarding the great Oregon reports.

road-killed raccoon; 29 at Green Ridge, Oregon;
60 over Cooper Mt. Nature Park, Oregon; ca. 60
over Washington Co, Oregon; 3 soaring over Dry Falls cliffs
03 ? 1 over Lynnwood; 2 flying around the OSU cow
barns; 20 over the Finley NWR, Oregon; 30 in a kettle over Discovery Bay

Silverdale; 192 over the south end of Totten Inlet (Kennedy Creek estuary)
10 ? 18 over Olympia; 1 at Lime Kiln that landed
in the water and swam ashore; 2-3 over northeast Renton
11 ? 8 with both adult/juvenile over Portland
plus 2 more later on; 2 coming out of the trees at Dash Point Park
12 ? 7 at Eatonville with an escort of 10 ravens;
8 soaring off Magnolia Bluff; 6 at Myrtle Edwards

27 August to 29 October, Bonney Butte Hawkwatch,
Oregon, with the count reflecting 48 full days of counting.
Total turkey vultures: 509
