Not sure if my message from yesterday got through. If not, here it is, with
today's report at the bottom:

Kittitat -> Asotin, Sunday, Nov. 11:

I?m almost to my goal of 150 species in each of the 39 counties in the
state; I?m down to just needing a few more species in Asotin, Garfield, and
Benton counties. So for the next few days, I?m in the SE part of the state
trying to find what I can find.

Sunday, on an amazingly gorgeous day with no wind !!! and sunshine, I made
my way from the west down to Clarkston. Here?s some of what I saw along the
way:

Vantage ? Ginkgo and Huntzinger: SURF SCOTERS ? I think 10+, some at
Recreation Rd., some at the Vantage boat launch, some from Wanapum SP;
CANVASBACK ? 1 in a flock of coots off Wanapum SP; LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE ? 1
just below the dam; ROCK WREN ? several below the dam

County Line Ponds SR-26 Grant Co: TUNDRA SWAN ? I counted 135, 4 with neck
collars; TRUMPETER SWAN ? 2 at least; SANDHILL CRANE ? 1

Bassett Park Adams Co: I finally saw the HAIRY WOODPECKER. Also several
GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS. There was a NORTHERN SHRIKE just south of town.

Alpowa Mouth Asotin Co: Waterbird bonanza, with Canada Goose, American
Wigeon, Mallard, Northern Shoveler, Northern Pintail, Redhead, Ring-necked
Duck, Lesser Scaup, Bufflehead, Common Goldeneye, Barrow's Goldeneye, Hooded
Merganser, Horned Grebe, Western Grebe, and American Coot. From Chief
Timothy I added Pied-billed Grebe, Eared Grebe, and Double-crested
Cormorant.


Asotin County, Monday, November 7. Mostly foggy, leaves falling like snow.
At Field Springs, snow falling like snow.

Swallows Park: EARED GREBE - at least 7

Snake River south of Asotin: RED-BREASTED MERGANSER - 2 females

Field Spring SP: NORTHERN PYGMY-OWL, and two VARIED THRUSH

Grande Ronde Rd / Cougar Ridge Rd: NORTHERN PYGMY-OWL, TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE

Savage Rd. Ponds: TUNDRA SWAN - 11, including 4 juveniles

Northern Shrike were numerous in the high country. I couldn't find a
Rough-legged Hawk though, nor any loons anywhere.

So, I added 7 species to my Asotin Co. list yesterday and today, to get me
to exactly 150. Tomorrow: Garfield County.
