After reading reports (with accompanying photographs) of SNOW BUNTINGS in Blaine on Sunday, I went there Tuesday to check up on them. Sure enough, there were two SNOW BUNTINGS, an adult and an immature, on the narrow strip between the road and the water and less than 100 feet from the pier. They were quite tame, and I pulled up slowly in my car and leaned out the window and got many photographs.

Also in Semiahmoo Bay were easily over 1,000 AMERICAN WIDGEONS. I spotted one male EURASIAN WIDGEON with them; there were probably more than that. Also present were two SHOVELERS, two GADWALLS, multitudes of DUNLINS and a number of BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS. In the channel were numerous COMMON LOONS, RED-NECKED and HORNED GREBES, and one PIED-BILLED GREBE. I thought it was a bit unusual to see the Pied-bill in brackish water.
