Hello, After 7 months working along the shoreline of Grays Harbor, for the next 2 1/2 months I'll be walking streams and floating rivers in more inland areas in search of salmon nests (redds). Read that to mean I'll be seeing an awful lot less birds and almost as bad as that... they won't let me use the airboat for this job. For pics from last year's salmon season see http://www.pbase.com/slickslug/salmon_and_stuff . Warning, there are pictures of rotten dead fish as well as live fish. Anyway, on the south fork of the Satsop River on Nov 2nd was an Osprey. On Nov 4th there was another Osprey between Porter and Oakville on the Chehalis River. Today I was quite surprised to find a male Barrow's Goldeneye amongst 4 Pied-billed Grebe on what now is apparently called Bower's Lake at Vance Creek Park in Elma. That's the best of it, though I will mention it seems like more birds of prey are evident out this way this year over last... just my impression.
Thanks,
