Tweeters: I walked the fill (Seattle's UBNA) today between 10:45 am and 12
noon. Connie had already been there, and had posted on the white board a
sighting of 29 hooded mergansers on the main pond. I'm glad someone else did
the counting, as they were moving around in such a sprightly manner I don't
think I could have ever settled on a final number! Lots of other good birds
around before the rain started. Best was an adult swan on the Southwest
Pond. That's a big bird on a small pond! A kingfisher was dive-bombing it
repeatedly, loudly chittering all the while. The swan's bill looked all
black to me, but I'll look forward to hearing from anyone else who sees it
as to which kind of swan it is. -Mary Bond, Seattle PS: The snow goose
continues at the Woodland Park baseball field. -MB
