Greetings all,

Tracey Norris and I spent a few hours this morning hitting a few spots along the sound in Pierce County.

We started at Dash Point which was a bit slow, then on to Brown's Point where the highlight was 3 Ancient Murrelets about 30 feet off the lighthouse calling to each other, diving a few times, before high-tailing it north bound.
Also at Brown's Point were 5 Marbled Murrelets, 18 Common Murre, 15 or so Pigeon Guillemots, and 30 or so Rhinoceros Auklets.

We then stopped at the Fox Island Bridge where 13 Long-tailed Ducks were hanging out along with 4 Harlequin Ducks, and an impressive flock of at least 78 Red-necked Grebes.

A tan-striped White-throated Sparrow rounded out the day at the end of Easterday Road accessed from Mounts Road in South Pierce County.

Cheers,

Ryan Shaw
