I put up a thistle feeder in my back yard over a year a go, hoping to
attract goldfinches. Never worked: not one. The house finches and juncos are
happy to take advantage, however.



Then, Friday afternoon, I glanced out at the feeder and saw a male goldfinch
chowing down on thistle seed. At last! Maybe he'll remember when he comes
back through here next year. (Hasn't been back today.)
