Today we visted Hines Marsh off Stackpole Road. Lots of ducks including
mallard, wigeon, ring-necked, and 2 pintails, pied-billed grebe, GBH,
adult bald eagle, and swans.

There were 3 trumpeters and 1 juvenile tundra swan. This is a first time
I have seen a tundra swan in the marsh. The other unusual side is that
the trumpeters were subadults, not breeding age. Why they had a juvenile
tundra swan with them is a mystery.

The joy of the day was to simply watch the marsh, the primordial sense of
the place, the sounds of only the wild.

If you have not visited this part of the park, you are missing something.
Most people drive by and never know that this huge marsh/swamp lies just
off the beaten path. A real treasure for wildlife.
