Dow Lambert sent the following posting to the Olympic Peninsula Audubon's
news site this evening:

Rod Norvell and I were returning from the lighthouse this afternoon, and
spotted a Snowy Owl close to milepost 2 at 4:10 PM. It was napping on a
driftwood perch. Unfortunately it was directly between us and the sun, so
the photos are washed out, but certainly clear enough for ID purposes.

The owl woke up as we approached and took flight, heading east over the
Spit, then headed out over the bay, perhaps to land on Graveyard Spit,
although we lost sight of it so don't really know where it ended up.
