Hey all,

I tried a few places this morning in Renton, trying to think like a Snowy Owl, but didn't relocate the one seen a few days ago. The big field by the Paccar Plant looks remarkably similar to parts of the Waterville Plateau, with big pieces of concrete for the owls to perch on, instead of big piles of rocks... but there were none there. It's fair to say that security there was a little wary of me walking around with binoculars and a camera... so I wouldn't encourage anyone to continue the search there.

The mouth of the Cedar River looked good for owls - sandbars and driftwood at an estuary... but there weren't any there either. Ducks are back in good numbers. I've seen Common Goldeneyes there in recent weeks, and saw some Barrow's today, as well as a hybrid or two, with a lot of them on the Cedar River itself, along with Buffleheads, Hooded and Common Mergansers.

Happy birding!
